Mallow Credit Union is now inviting applications for the following position:

Head of Lending (Ref MCU 1018)

Principle responsibilities of the role:

The Head of Lending will report to the CEO and the Board and will be responsible for the management and efficient operation of the lending function across the branches of Mallow Credit Union (as well as online and phone applications), ensuring progressive implementation of all legislative and regulatory requirements.  The Head of Lending will also be responsible for loan growth, in line with the strategic business goals, taking into account the requirement to grow the loan book in a prudent and compliant manner.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the lending function ensuring the balance of both quality and quantity of loans through effective assessment of applications and documentation and a ‘best in class’ underwriting process
  • Daily management of the lending application pipeline, ensuring applications are approved as soon as possible, and referred to the credit committee if and when required/
  • Ensure implementation of all credit policies in line with Board and regulatory bodies requirements
  • Responsible for the design and development of new and innovative lending products in line with the strategic plan
  • Monitor lending take-up, trends and analysis of the loan book, presenting to the board and relevant committees all necessary reports, applications and any other documentation that may be required
  • Monitoring KPIs to ensure targets are met
  • Develop the credit capability within the Credit Union, coach and mentor to ensure the team reach their full potential
  • Support loan growth initiatives to support strategic objectives
  • As Line Manager, ensure all reviews and appraisals are carried out in a timely and effective manner
  • Develop and implement process efficiencies and ongoing evaluation of all credit processes and systems

The successful candidate should have the following:

  • Minimum 7+ years’ experience in managing a lending function and extensive underwriting capabilities within a financial services provider
  • Excellent people management, communication and presentation skills
  • Proven track record in sales management and achieving business objectives
  • Relevant industry qualifications and/or third level business degree
  • Proactive and self-motivated with the ability to adapt to new situations
  • Exceptional time management skills and ability to prioritise
