Text SCAM Alert

Be Fraud Aware. Online and phone scams are on the rise. Remain vigilant and never share account or card details with anyone purporting to be your bank, your credit union or service provider. Don't move funds on their request only. When in doubt, contact the provider using contact details from official sources. See www.fraudsmart.ie for more info.

Please be aware of a new text SCAM.

The message appears to come from a “Credit Union” sender and reads similar to the following:

“CREDIT UNION: Your online has been placed on hold due to recent activity. To review and remove the hold, please contact us immediately at 016765007 REF:CU7749.”

Please note:

  • This message is not legitimate and has no connection to any credit union.
  • The phone number provided in the message is fraudulent.
  • Do not click any links, call the number, or provide any personal, account, or card details in response.
  • We would recommend you making members aware by your usual communication channels.

If you have received this text:

  1. Do not engage or respond to the sender.
  2. Delete the message immediately.
  3. If you have already responded or shared information, contact your credit union directly and report the incident to your card issuer and Gardaí.

As always, credit unions will never request account details, PINs, passwords, or card numbers by text message, email, or phone.
