🏫 A brilliant day at Millstreet Community School! 💙
We were delighted to visit Millstreet Community School yesterday, but even better, we had the opportunity to bring along some wonderful friends who shared three very important messages with the students.
🧠 Laura Curtin from the Alzheimer Society of Ireland spoke about the importance of creating a Dementia-Inclusive Generation, encouraging young people to develop greater understanding, patience and respect for those living with dementia and cognitive difficulties.
💶 Tim Galwey from MABS delivered a very important presentation on the dangers of money muling. He explained how young people can be targeted by criminals looking to use their bank accounts to transfer illegally obtained money, and the serious consequences that can follow.
❤️ Mick O’Shea, Mallow Credit Union Brand Ambassador, then shared his inspiring personal story of organ transplantation and the incredible gift of organ donation. Mick also spoke about competing in running and swimming at the World Transplant Games, showing just what can be possible when someone receives that second chance at life.
Three very different topics, but three powerful messages around awareness, understanding and making good choices.
A huge thank you to Millstreet Community School for giving us such a warm welcome, and to Laura, Tim and Mick for giving their time and sharing their knowledge and experiences.
And finally, a very special mention to our “volunteer” Patrick, who was a great sport on the day! 😄👏 We couldn’t finish the post without giving him his moment!
Days like this are a great reminder of the value of bringing people together, sharing experiences and supporting the next generation. 💙
